The Drug War is OURS, isn’t it? Is there anybody out there who thinks that if we ended OUR drug war, the world wouldn’t end theirs?

I dunno how it is for you… But, people, who I ordinarily believe to be rational and smart people, lose their minds when they examine the problems on our southern border.   They cluck their tongues, shake their heads, and with a far away look in their eyes, they utter those two time worn and unbelievably stupid words, “crack down”.

I’m amazed at these people.. Truly amazed… It’s not like it’s rocket science either…. Nope, we’ve BEEN here before. We HAVE experience with prohibition. We KNOW what happens when we end it… Yet, mention the words marijuana, and ordinary people lose their minds…. and they didn’t smoke anything…

Let’s talk about heroin… Do you know WHY it kills people????? It kills because addicts don’t know how much of that stuff in that little bag is heroin, or how much is cut. Guess wrong, and you’re dead…

Right now, today, the heroine dealers are in charge of the market. They determine where it’ll be sold, TO WHOM IT WILL BE SOLD, what’s IN it, and how much to charge for it…

Wouldn’t YOU rather be in charge of that???

I’m not addressing those of you who lose their minds when they hear the word “heroin”, because you’ll tell me that if we only “cracked down”, there wouldn’t BE any heroin… Bwa, ha ha ha. (excuse me – this is serious stuff here)

Nope, I’m addressing the thinking people.

Hello again,

In no particular order, these are the serious issues of the day, that need to be fixed.

(1) Fix the economy

a.  reform health care
1. throw the insurance companies OUT, and make the gov the single payer.

b. reform energy

1. make it green, and make it an alternate to fossil fuel.

c. reform entitlements
1. They are growing faster than we can pay for them… We either need to raise SS and Medicare taxes, or lower services.

d. re-regulate
1. We must end the market tilt toward the rich.

(2) End the drug war.
1. That’ll save JILLIONS, and go a long way toward making peace in the world.

(3) Rebuild the infrastructure.
1. We need roads and bridges to work.

(4) End the war’s in Iraq and Afghanistan.
1. Duh!
2. It’ll help make peace.

(5) Reform immigration.
1. We should stop trying to keep ourselves WHITE.

That’ll be quite enough for a while.

Hello again:

I remember a time when I looked in the mirror, and didn’t believe I would ever get old…

At around that same time, my country made promises to spend money that it didn’t have and couldn’t sustain. Like me, they didn’t believe the bill would ever come due.

Guess what?

The wolf is at the door, and yes, I’m old. Some people, more than likely the ones who brought us here, don’t wanna believe the wolf is here yet. In fact, like me, they don’t believe the wolf will EVER be at the door…

I guess they failed at math.

So, since the wolf is at the door, some fixing is in order…. Because we waited SOOOO long, the fix is going to be BIGGGGER.

You’re right. I DIDN’T fail at math. Fortunately for the country, Obama didn’t either..

So there’s some INVESTING needing to be done…. Now, you can invest in one of TWO ways. One way will produce a return on your investment. The other way will cause you to go broke.

I’m still waiting to see how the big fix works itself out.

Yeah, I don’t know what will work. You don’t either. But, pretending the wolf ISN’T at the door ISN’T an answer.

I dunno.

I BELIEVE righty’s when they talk about small government…. That’s why I don’t understand how THEY don’t understand, why the DEA is a prime example of BIG GOVERNMENT.

Righty’s mouth the words about government interference in your life, but believe they have the RIGHT to tell you what to do with your own body, and believe they have the RIGHT to hire police forces with guns to enforce it.

I truly don’t understand the disconnect. Ordinarily, righty’s seem to be like you and me. You can’t tell ‘em apart by looking… But, utter a few choice words in their presence, and they’ll stick out like sore thumbs. Yup, like preprogrammed zombies, when they hear words like Gitmo or marijuana, they actually lose their minds.

Point of fact, Senator Charles Grassley, (R) of Iowa, a long-time proponent of small government, does not object to the crass interference into the lives of American citizens perpetrated for more than 40 years by the so called War on Drugs. Are states’ rights and personal liberty only catch phrases for Grassley and his cohorts, or is true application of these principles too threatening to contemplate?

Apparently so, for Grassley recently criticized Eric Holder and the Obama administration for the decision to no longer target medical cannabis dispensaries which comply with state law.

Since I’ve been posting stuff about marijuana, our local righty’s have ALL said that they believe pot should be legal, and they don’t engage me…. But, I want to know if they’ve DONE anything about it, instead of just mouthing words. It is, afterall, THEIR party who is blocking the way.

By the way, the trouble on our southern border would END the moment we ENDED the drug war.

If the Democrats had acted like the Republicans are NOW acting, we wouldn’t have invaded Afghanistan or Iraq.  It would be as if on the morning after 9/11, Democrats said they wanted no part of any war against Al Qaeda, “George Bush, you’re on your own.”

Instead, the Democrats BELIEVED, along with the Republicans, that we needed to respond to the crisis with one voice.

And we did.

The Democrats, fearful of being called soft, rallied around the Republican mantra.  People who strayed were labeled UNPATRIOTIC.

So, I wonder why NOW, when we face an even greater crisis, the Republicans, as a group, are saying NO.  And, I wonder why nobody is calling them UNPATRIOTIC.

Nahhh.  I know why.  It’s either because the Democrats ARE soft, OR because the Republicans are stupid.  I think it’s both.

The Republicans only know BANG!  If we haven’t been attacked with BOMBS or airplanes flying into buildings, there’s no crisis.  Since the financial meltdown didn’t go BANG, it’s too subtle for them to grasp.  They really don’t get that we’re on the precipice.  Really, they don’t get it.  Not at all.  Not even close.

I wonder if that could be because there’s no foreign sounding enemy to blame?  In fact, the enemy is their own Wall Street Al Qaeda (the “haves” as Bush called them), who attacked us with derivatives and credit default swaps instead.

Let me tell you this, my fine Republican friends, flying airplanes into buildings ain’t NOTHING compared to what we got going on today. This is August 1914. This is the morning after Pearl Harbor. This is 9/12. But, for you, it’s business as usual – even with Hoover hovering in the background.

I’ll betcha Hoover got the email about Fanny and Freddie, too.

You Republicans are silly. If your silliness wasn’t so UNPATRIOTIC, and DANGEROUS, I wouldn’t bring it up.
